Prom Hairstyles For 2008
By Paul Jones

Prom is a very special occasion for boys and girls today and making sure you look fabulous can take a little bit of research to make sure you are up to date with the trends. Before spring even arrives you will see dozens of different prom related hairstyle magazines on the stands ready to give you the best and most unique hairstyle ideas to help make your prom a night to remember. Check out these different suggestions below and see if they match your hair personality.

  • Every girl loves to have their hair done in an up-do and today there are many different ways to do this. Whether you have long or short hair you can still make your hairstyle appear like an up-do even if it actually is not! Curls and waves are very popular right now and a great idea for your prom hairstyle is to curl your hair, whether it is short or long and collect all the curls at the back of your hair in a tussled yet controlled up-do.
  • Long and natural is one of the trends of 2008 and if you have long hair you can take advantage of this new trend. You have two choices, you can curl every inch of your hair into distinctive ringlets or you can curl only the bottom of your hair so the curls naturally attract together at the ends of your hair, the rest of your hair being straight. Both of these are very elegant looks and can greatly compliment any young girl.
  • The French twist has only been a classic up-do look for women of any age. This is a very classy and elegant hairstyle to wear to your prom.
  • If you are looking for something a bit more unique and perhaps extravagant, you will find that messy hairstyles are very popular this year and prom is the best place to try them out! Between you and your chosen hairstylist you should be able to take the simple concept of the French twist or the bun and create something a bit messy but controlled at the same time.

2008 offers a wide variety of different prom hairstyles which can accommodate long or short hair lengths so everyone gets a chance to be stylish and trendy for their prom night. During your prom hairstyle hunt you will find that the perfect accessories can really make or break your chosen hairstyle. You can choose from flowers, ribbons, hair bands, barrettes, jewels, sparkles and more. No mater what your accessory preference is you can be sure they sell it!

Make sure and book your appointment early with your hairstylist because every girl in your area is looking to do the same thing! If you find by the time your prom does arrive, you have not decided on the right hairstyle for you, it is not a big deal because your hairstylist has no doubt done thousands of different prom hairstyles and can suggest the best hairstyle to compliment your facial shape and your personal preferences as well.

There is no doubt that you are already searching and scanning the most popular prom hairstyles of 2008 already so you can accumulate dozens of great possibilities and run them by your hairstylist to get their opinion because often times the hairstyles we love most do not blend well or look natural with facial shapes, etc. Prom is a very important event in every teenager’s life so why not take the time to make sure you look fabulous and are wearing the latest trends and fashions with grace?

Updo Hair Style
By Tim Grimsley

Jennifer’s updo hairstyle. Jennifer Aniston has recently worn one of the hottest hairstyles among hollywood celebrities right now.

Updo hair styles are as hot as the summer sun right now.

Jennifer’s updo of choice is the stacked ponytail. This is called a stack because more than one ponytail is used, each one is then stacked on the next. It seems that high ponytails are the most popular updo’s this summer. We are seeing them worn by plenty of starlets.

If you are looking for something a little more formal then this year your best choice is probably a classic french twist. This is a fairly simple hairstyle that carries a timeless elegance.

For playful weekend excursions a tousled pull up held in place with a large hair clip is extremely trendy. When you clip it remember to place the clip high, near the crown of your head. This gives a playful, but sexy look that is easy and will last all day.

If you are looking for an updo for a wedding, the choice this year is a half up/half down. This is great for a wedding because it gives you the elegance that you want and the sexy look of flowing hair. There also many great products that are new this year, check them out.

This is why there arises a need for proper hair care to ensure that your hair does not lose their natural shine. Though the market has hair care products like conditioner and shampoos in abundance, but excessive use of these chemical-based products can lead to dry hair. Herbal remedies and a few precautions in everyday life therefore work best when it comes to hair care methods.

Apart from the healthy and balanced diet, drinking loads of water also hydrates the hair follicles and prevents dull and dry hair. A good sound sleep ensures that the hair damage is repaired, so slumber is something that should not be compromised on, no matter how busy you may be. Sleeping on a satin pillowcase would be a good idea as it will prevent rubbing of hair while sleeping and will keep a check on fly away hair. In case you often use hair dryer, curling iron or straightener over your normal hair, it can take away moisture from hair, making them thin and dry. An application of a product for protection from heat is the best bet in the matter for healthy hair.

Besides, there are also several common problems associated with hair such as hair loss, dandruff, oily hair and many others. Initiating with dandruff, it is a common yet an embarrassing condition that causes the dry flakes to fall from hair.

The best homemade method to treat dandruff is to put a few vinegar tablespoons in water, rub it against the scalp at night the day before and cover it with towel and wash it the next day. Excess of dandruff may also cause hair loss at times, though there are many other reasons that cause hair loss. A drink which is an amalgamation of yoghurt, low-fat milk, honey and bananas can prove to be an effective cure for hair loss. Averting stress and taking enough sleep can also contribute a great deal in the matter. Massaging and shampooing the head by inverting the head increases blood circulation which can also be helpful for regrowth of hair.

For those who have greasy or oily hair, using a mild ph-balanced shampoo would be the best deal. Also, the diet should have the minimum intake of oily foods and maximum of vegetables. So, there are various ways in which you can make sure that your hair remains healthy and shiny throughout. Not to forget, intake of drugs and alcohol are not only bad for the overall health of an individual, but also adversely affects the growth and condition of your hair. Some Simple Hair Care Tips and Tricks
By Kristy Klien

You have been working your hair hard and notice that the overall condition is not great and you need to make your hair look good as soon as you can. Depending on your style of hair can make a difference on how much time you will need to spend on fixing out problems. Try playing with different styles that you can use when you are running short of time. Some quick hair care fixes that you can try could be using braiding techniques. These are great to use when you don’t have much time, try a knotted bun and having your hair up, you just need snag free elastic bands, assorted pins and some leave in conditioner in a spray bottle and you can get your hair out of trouble very quickly. It is possible to do this with washed hair but the beauty is you can also use this technique on unwashed hair, just add a bit of mist until the hair is very slightly damp and then you can begin the process.

Hair Loss in Women & Hair Loss in Men

Hair Loss In Women
By Jenny Jitea

There are several different causes for hair loss in women and one of the first to look at are medications. In general women tend to take more medication than men and it’s surprising how many of these medicines in the small print warn of hair loss. The list of medications that can start hair loss is quite extensive and is hard to generalise but here are a just 10 examples.

Acne Treatments

Depression Treatments

Beta Blockers

Cholesterol Treatments

Amphetamines

Anti inflammatory drugs

Indigestion Treatments

Blood Thinners

Birth Control Pills

Gout Treatments

So from this list you can see that most of us at some time are taking these medications. Why not go and get the medicine box now and go onto the maker’s website and see if hair loss in women is listed as a side effect.

HORMONES

Dihydrotestosterone (known as DHT) is present in everyone and is derived from testosterone which is found in men. The problem with this hormone is that it really doesn’t like our hair! It was always thought that testosterone was the cause of hair loss and although it is a serious offender in hair loss in women the main cause has been identified as DHT. Women have a small amount of the male testosterone hormone, but this can be converted to DHT when it mixes with the enzine Type II 5 alpha in the oil glands of the hair follicles. Once these two start to bind together the root of the hair in the scalp will be attacked.

TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM

Hair loss can be caused by a stressful event. It could be from infections, surgery, stress or even child birth. The problem with this type of womens hair loss is that the effects are seen long after the cause and it might not be possible to connect the two together. It is possible that up to 90% of your hair could move into a shedding stage some 4 weeks to 3 months after the event. If the cause of the event is removed then generally your hair will return in time but when, nobody can tell.

ANAGEN EFFLUVIUM

Anagen effluvium is caused as a result of chemotherapy. At the moment there is nothing that can be done to help this if the chemotherapy continues. The chemotherapy causes extreme damage to the hair follicles and they may or may not recover over time.

ANDOGENETIC ALOPECIA

This is the most common hair loss in women which is generally a thinning of the hair. Men also suffer from this but tend to lose hair in certain areas, i.e. the crown. The cause is again a male hormone which reacts to events like ovarian cysts, birth control pills and the menopause. The hormone DHT also has an effect here and makes the hair follicles shrink which then of course will fall out.

CONCLUSION

As you can see not every cause of hair loss in women is permanent and there are many treatments available. The important thing now days is not to try and hide the problem but to try and cure the problem. For a women to lose her hair can be a devastating event but there are many modern treatments to help restore your beauty, and with the problem becoming more well known you shouldn’t feel any embarrassment to seek help.

The Benefits of Salon Hair Care & The Importance of a Proper Hair Care

The Benefits Of Salon Hair Care
By Michelle Bery

For most of us, taking care of our bodies is a natural part of our day. We’ve been bombarded with the messages that tell us that diet, exercise, and taking care of ourselves on a number of different levels can result in increased healthy and vitality – and we’ve heeded the advice, heading to the gym and watching what we eat. But part of caring for ourselves includes taking care of the outside; how we look says a lot about who we are and putting care and attention into our hair, clothes, makeup, and overall grooming can make the difference in how people perceive us and, most importantly, how we feel about ourselves. Taking care of your hair, especially, will go a long way towards setting the tone for your overall style and pulling together a look that’s uniquely you. And when it comes to making sure you look your best, salon hair care is paramount to healthy and attractive hair.

Salon hair care simply means the frequent visiting of a salon and professional hair stylist to ensure that your hair is healthy. Healthy hair is beautiful hair and there is no getting around this simple fact. For some, trimming their hair at home has become part of their routine. But a professional hair stylist can offer a level of expertise that will ensure that you have the hairstyle – and color – that looks best on you. And most important to remember is that salon hair care does not have to mean expensive hair care.

There are many high-end salons today that offer superlative service with expensive price tags. Depending on where you live, it is always possible to find hair salons that offer just as quality salon hair care at a much lower price and the answer lies in overhead. Look for smaller salons that have fewer stylists and are located just a little bit off the beaten path. It’s a simple equation; when their rent is cheaper your salon hair care is cheaper.

Salon hair care will mean a professional cut and style along with a thorough shampoo and conditioning treatment. If you have particularly dry hair then salon hair care is imperative to maintaining a healthy level of moisture in your hair.

When it comes to color, salon hair care is the way to go in order to find the color that is right for you skin tone. More than anything, color that is not done professionally can go horribly wrong. Stick with the experts when it comes to coloring – and caring for – your hair; you won’t be sorry.

The Importance Of A Proper Hair Care Product
By Michelle Bery

When it comes to taking care of our bodies we’ve found a way to combine good nutrition with diet in order to positively and profoundly impact our health. But when it comes to keeping our hair healthy and looking great, many of us are still missing the boat. In order to have the luxurious hair we’ve always dreamed of it is necessary to first understand what kind of hair we already have; that information can help us find the hair care product that best suits our needs so that we can have terrific hair before we know it!

Do you have thick hair? Thin hair? Curly hair? Straight hair? Oily hair? Dry hair? Short hair? Long hair? You must first identify and define your hair before you can treat it properly. There are literally thousands of hair care product on the market today and sifting through them means first eliminating those that will not work. You have to stay true to your hair; buying a gel that’s all the rage does little good if it has high alcohol content and you already have dry hair. Look for products that work with your hair rather than against it.

For instance, right in your local drugstore, you will undoubtedly find a serum hair care product to treat frizzy hair right out of shower; a thickening shampoo for to treat thinning hair; and conditioner for every condition of hair.

But aside from acting as a first line of response for hair care treatment, a hair care product should make your hair look great. From gels and mousse, to relaxers and curl enhancers; everything you may have ever wanted to do to your hair can be achieved with the use of one or several products on the market today.

You can always find a professional hair care product at high-end salons. And in some cases, your hair stylist may recommend that you use a specific product in order to correct some damage or enhance a particular style. Just keep in mind that the salon products are quite a bit more money than the product line in your local drug store. That being said, if the product makes a difference and helps you love your hair, it’s worth every penny.

Once you find the perfect hair care product for your hair and your lifestyle, use it consistently. You will soon find that you have finally gotten the hair you’ve always wanted.

Choosing a Wedding Hairstyle & Perfect Wedding Day Hair Style

Choosing A Wedding Hairstyle
By David Yu

The wedding hairstyle is one of the most important fine details that the bride would have to decide on long before her wedding, and it is one that is never overlooked – for everyone understands and appreciates that the wedding hairstyle is one of the most important features of the bride-to-be. In fact, the hairstyle is among the most defining points of any woman – it can break or make an outfit, a fashion statement, or simply soften an otherwise severe facial feature.

A bride can choose to look like a fairytale princess at her wedding, or she can choose to look like the queen of the castle instead; she can choose an enchanting hairstyle, or she can opt for one that is totally bewitching. She may even choose to go with the more unconventional but daring hairstyle on her wedding day. Whichever she chooses though, you can bet that she would have given much thought and consideration into the fact before choosing a single one!

The princess hairstyle : is one of the most flattering hairstyles that a young bride could choose for her wedding day. Most wedding hairstyles require that the hair be pulled back from the face, and the princess hairstyle is no exception. This is the clean formal look that for years has been the preferred choice among aristocrats and well-off women alike. The princess wedding hairstyle can however be held up or down. Generally though, it is the hairstyle that finds its basis in large but soft waves held back from the face and usually parted at the sides or the center. This hairstyle can work for the bride with long hair or the bride with medium hair. The princess hairstyle can also either be worn with a veil or with a tiara, or both.

The queen hairstyle : is very much like the princess hairstyle with the exception that the hairstyles are more elaborate and may include side bangs to soften the somewhat severe look of aristocracy. Side paths, middle paths, or no paths at all may be used in the hair which could either be loosely pulled back or tightly pulled back. If you choose to go with the tightly pulled back look, then the rest of your hair is best piled in curls at the top of the head. This is a look that again can either go with a veil, a tiara, or both.

All other wedding hairstyles are basically modifications of these two however. With the hair held down, soft waves are the most stylish and fashionable hairdos. Variations of the upswept hair include half up-half down options and fully upswept options. For the fully upswept look, the bride could consider the French knot or variations of the French knot with soft bangs sweeping the forehead.

The Benefits Of Professional Hair Care
By Michelle Bery

When it comes to hair – especially for women – anything goes in an effort to make us feel beautiful. And often this effort means the pursuit of professional hair care – that service that will keep our hair healthy and looking great. Of course, such service comes at a price – some higher than others – but most find that it is more than worth the expense. Can you cut your hair at home? Yes. Can you color your hair with the use of a product you picked up at your local drugstore? Absolutely. But what you save in avoiding professional hair care you will almost certainly wind up spending down the road to fix damage you have caused.

Professional services are simply part of our lifestyle – a necessary factor in keeping our bodies healthy. Just as we visit doctors for check-ups, dentists for professional cleaning, and ophthalmologists to make sure our glasses or contacts are up-to-date, so must we allow ourselves professional hair care to ensure the health of our hair.

Professional hair care typically requires a trip to a salon where your hair will be washed, conditioned, cut, and styled. Your stylist can assess the health of your hair and determine if you need a deep conditioning treatment and what cut will work best with your particular hair. Developing a long term relationship with a stylist allows you to know what you’re getting when you walk in; it also allows the stylist to get to know your hair and subsequently learn what to look for in determining the health of your hair. Trimming the hair allows the hair to grow and keeps it healthy. If you do not trim your hair, the ends become split and your hair becomes dry, broken, and brittle.

When it comes to styling, professional hair care treatment gives you insight into what looks best for your hair and around your face. It is important to seek out a stylist who has experience working with your type of hair; if, for instance, you have naturally curly hair, you want to find someone who is skilled in dealing with your type of hair. A haircut for curly hair is very different than a haircut for straight hair. A little bit of research will go a long way towards ultimately getting what you want.

For those who color their hair, professional hair care is even more important. If done incorrectly, color can damage your hair long term. A professional hair colorist can expertly treat your hair and help you decide what color looks best on your hair and against your face.

Professional hair care may cost you some money; but it will be well worth it in maintaining the health and beauty of your hair.

Losing Hair and Hair Loss Treatment & Natural Hair Loss Remedies

Losing Hair and Hair Loss Treatment
By Steve Knowles

Normal hair shedding is approximately 100-125 hairs per day. A lower number of hairs lost would apply to those whose hair is already thin. Normally, as the hair goes through these three phases, the follicle tends to return to the same length and width during the anagen phase, and as a result, tends to produce the same length and width hair shaft. Normal hair shedding should not be of concern or alarm, as we typically loose 50 to 100 hairs per day. However, if you notice heavier hair loss or worst if you notice bald spots, it’s best to consult your dermatologist about possible hair loss treatment.

All hair follicles have the ability and potential to change size and shape. Hair follicles induced with the bulb too close to the epidermal/dermal junction are susceptible to being pulled out when placed under a mechanical stress such as combing or brushing. Reproducibly obtaining the correct angle of hair shaft growth has also not been possible. Hair follicles also contain stem cells, and some researchers predict research on these follicle stem cells may lead to successes in treating baldness through hair multiplication within three or four years. This hair loss treatment is expected to initially work through taking stem cells from existing follicles, multiplying them in cultures, and implanting the new follicles into the scalp.

Hair follicles thrive on good blood circulation in the scalp. Simply massage any balding areas for 15 minutes daily. Hair transplant surgery is a relatively minor and noninvasive surgical procedure. It is performed on an outpatient basis. Hair loss begins at the forehead and crown and is slowly progressive. Male pattern baldness hair loss treatment may be cosmetically disguised by hair-follicle transplants.

Alopecia

Androgenetic Alopecia or “male pattern hair loss” is implicated in 95% of hair loss cases. The key is a hormonal byproduct called DHT (dihydrotestostrone). Androgenetic alopecia requires three conditions for its occurrence – the genes for hair loss, male hormones in adequate quantities, and time (this sounds better than age). Androgentic Alopecia often runs in families and affects some people more than others. It is characterized by a receding hair line and baldness on the top of head.

Hormonal Hair Loss

Hair loss caused by hormonal imbalance has a distinct pattern. The hair thins at the base of the tail and inside the legs first, and then gradually is lost over most of the body, often sparing the tip of the tail and the head. Hair loss poses a real emotional problem for men. They can experience real anxiety and stress over excessive hair loss. Hair loss was mainly in the forehead and temple area. Similarly, the hair parting get’s wider, and the forehead looks higher, and they tend to see lopsided ‘triangles’ of scalp showing at the temples.

DHT hormone (deriver from testosterone) is in charge of blocking the hair production of certain areas (especially on the head). Although DHT is produced with testosterone, it is controlled by another hormone, estrogen. DHT is a by-product of the male hormone testosterone, which is responsible for masculine characteristics. When testosterone gets converted to DHT, the result is hair loss. DHT is responsible for the division of cells in the prostate, and is normally expelled by the prostate. However, when the prostate fails to expel the DHT, it builds up and causes enlargement.

Testosterone is a hormone that is naturally produced in the body by both men and women. Your body will convert testosterone and the sebum/dirt mixture into a substance called DHT. Testosterone converts to DHT with the aid of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. While the entire genetic process of MPB is not completely understood, scientists do know that DHT shrinks hair follicles, and that when DHT is suppressed, hair follicles continue to thrive. Testosterone is an androgen. The higher the level of androgen hormones a person has, the more hair loss then occurs.

Natural Products

Hair loss treatment with herbs can show significant results in achieving re-growth of hair. However such treatments might not show any immediate results and takes longer than other treatments, but can at times work wonder. Natural sources including zinc and protein are essential in maintaining your healthy locks. When you feed your hair with the required nutrients, you can help to prevent hair loss.

Zinc, protein and other natural sources are essential in maintaining healthy locks, and providing the required nutrients can help you prevent hair loss. The balance of your entire body can be evident in how your hair looks. Zinc is best known to effect hair loss and fingernail growth when deficient in this mineral. Zinc deficiency not only produces problems with hair loss, but also with changes in the scalp.

There are times in your life when you reflect and see that you may have averted disaster if only you had taken action. Hair loss treatment is one of those areas where action sooner rather than later makes all the difference to the end result. It is far better to stop the hair loss than try to replace it.

Natural Hair Loss Remedies
By Dadrian V

Our days, many women suffer from massive hair loss, without any apparent reason. What is there to do to recover your hair health and beauty?

There are many possible reasons for hair loss, from stress to inadequate cosmetic treatments, the stop of taking oral birth control pills and a number of dermatological affections.

Should you alarm yourself?

Just like the skin, the hair regenerates itself from time to time, losing a few hairs at some time being a very normal thing to a point. The specialists agree on the fact that it’s normal to lose up to 100 hairs a day, but who is counting them in the morning, and sees the hairbrush full?

There are some cases in which hair loss is produced by a hormonal cause, like females at their menopause or the ones that just gave birth. Usually, the hair loss problem is fixed when the hormonal equilibrium is regained. This is why, when the condition becomes chronicle, you should see a specialist for a hair loss treatment.

The hairs from your head are growing again after a 3 months period of “rest” of the scalp.

Before seeing a doctor, you may try a few hair loss treatments provided by Mother Nature itself. They are simple and, most times, efficient.

· Massage your head with olive oil for 10 days. Preferably, cover your head afterwards and leave it to act for the night. If that’s impossible, try at least to massage your head with olive oil at least 2 hours before washing your hair.

· Massage your head with Castor-oil. The procedure is the same as for olive oil.

· Horse-tail infusion is very good for rinsing the hair after washing it with a regular shampoo. The procedure requires several weeks before showing results.

· Burs tincture. Dip a cotton bud in the bur tincture and massage the head skin. This is effective against dandruff as well.

· Nettles decoct or birch tree decoct, for rinsing also. This helps strengthening the hair roots and faster regenerating of the hair.

· Prepare from apples, nettles, carrots, juices that you drink every morning one glass. They are very good for gaining energy and minerals.

· Yeast – eat before every meal a small amount of yeast. For good results, this treatment must be long lasting. Yeast contains the whole B vitamin complex, which helps a lot hair growing.

Hair loss treatment

Provillus is a very well regarded hair loss treatment, with excellent reviews.

Acne Treatments including herbal supplements. Clears pores, washes the skin, unclogs pores, protects your face skin and removes acne.

Long Hair Styles & Creating a Trendy Hairstyle

Long Hair Styles
By Kevin Stith

Long hair styles usually work well with any hair type, be it straight, curly or wavy. However, it looks the best if the locks are medium-textured or thick. So it is better to skip the lengthy look if you have fine hair or a long and narrow face. Of course, the best hair styles of long hair are those that use limited preparation time. The multiple ponytails style is a very popular long hairstyle.

The multiple ponytails style consists of three base ponytails, but it is possible to have more ponytails if interested! Once the basic style of three ponytails is mastered, which normally takes ten minutes, you can improvise on it! If you plan on just having three ponytails, newly washed hair is great; but if you plan to add knots or braids, it’s better to work with hair that is not so soft. The hair has to be brushed to remove knots and tangles. Then all the hair from the top of your crown has to be picked up and separated into three even sections. Some hair from the ears below has to be left loose to flow around your neck. Each ponytail then has to be smoothened into separate mini-ponytails, and secured with either a hair bungee or elastic hair band. Once the basic multi-pony look has been achieved, you could use different braided or knotted styles. You could create multiple ponytails where no hair is left to flow down your back. Another choice is to have all the different ponytails coiled up and pinned on top of the crown to get a beautiful up-do of braids. You could also braid the center of the multi ponytails and leave the side ponytails unbraided. Then you could pin jeweled hairpins at the top of each ponytail, or experiment with different color scrunches to cover the elastic bands.

The variations with long hairstyles are endless. They are limited only by the amount time you invest in experimenting with different hair styles – and by your imagination.

Hair Styles provides detailed information about hair styles, black hair styles, layered hair styles, long hair styles and more. Hair Styles is the sister site of Corset Training.
